Immanuel Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the New England Synod.  The present Immanuel Lutheran Church is a result of a merger in 1995 by Immanuel Lutheran Church organized in 1889 (German background) and Augustana Lutheran Church organized in 1890 (Swedish background).  Presently the congregation is made up of members from a variety of cultural backgrounds.  Located in the downtown area of the small urban city of Meriden, the congregation has made a commitment to remain in its present location and develop a ministry of outreach to the community.  Both the worship space and the parish house are handicapped accessible with convenient handicapped restroom facilities.  A new parish house was completed in 1996 including space for offices, fellowship, recreation, classrooms, library/conference room, and a music room. The worship space is a beautiful gothic style building seating about 400 people with lovely stained glass windows, a three manual pipe organ, and a Steinway grand piano.
